Dr. Valentina Coia is a Biologist specialized in Molecular Anthropology and Human population genetics. She analyzes the human genetic diversity (in modern and ancient groups) in order to reconstruct the genetic and demographic history of human populations. Currently, she is working at the Institute for Mummy Studies, EURAC Research (Bolzano, Italy) as senior researcher.

Her role in CELTUDALPS includes the coordination of the ancient DNA analysis and the interpretation of the genetic data in order to reconstruct the genetic history of Celts.

At the moment she is leading one project regarding genomic, isotopic and anthropological investigation of human remains from Early Medieval groups from the Alps (BioArchEM project) and one project regarding the genetic history of prehistoric alpine individuals from the Iceman´s territory (Prehistoric Alps).
